SEAL

The Student Government Seal reflects the history of the

Mercedarian Order as “liberators” of the captives. The seal

transcends the 13th Century to present times by incorporating the

primal goal of the Mercedarians to its motto, to use education by

serving with humility as a new form of liberation. It reflects the identity of the Student Government as the highest student organization of the Institution.

The Open Book epitomizes the primal duty of the Student Government, to uphold quality and liberating education for the Mercedarian students. It also symbolizes that learning is a never-ending process, thus the students should be open to every knowledge but has the ability to discern such.

The Open Hand symbolizes the goal of the Student Government, to serve the Institution and give birth to offer free, responsible and life-giving leaders to the country.

The Dwennimen or “Ram’s Horn” is an African symbol for humility. The ram will fight fiercely, yet it will submit humbly. It reflects the fight of the Student Government to liberate the youth from the new forms of slavery, yet without the use of arms but the might of education as liberating force to reckon such.

The MMXVII or year 2017 is the year wherein the present organizational structure and constitution of the Student Government has taken effect.

The Maroon is the color identity of the Mercedarian School.

Educación, Servicio, Humildad is the motto of the Student Government. It is written in Spanish to reflect the origins of the Mercedarian Missionaries of Berriz as a Spanish Congregation.
